Epsilon1 Arae (ε1 Ara, ε1 Arae) is the 4th magnitude star in the constellation Ara.
ε1 Arae is an orange K-type giant with an apparent magnitude of 4.06m. It is approximately 300 light years from the Earth.
ε1 Arae was known as 龜一 (meaning: "the 1st (star) of Guī") in traditional Chinese astronomy.[1][2] Allen erroneously called it as Tso Kang (左更).[3] He probably confused constellation "Ara" with "Ari". Tso Kang was lain in Aries.[1][2]
